A 14” x 5” wood salad bowl made from locally sourced ash wood from North Carolina. This salad bowl is sized for 3-5 servings but this can vary depending on individual serving size. This bowl also includes a matching set of a 12” spoon and fork-style spoon to be used as salad servers.
Each bowl is made using the once turned method, allowing the wood to dry and shape itself over time. The result is a subtly warped form that reflects the true nature of the tree and makes every piece one of a kind. This natural movement and variation can be seen in the photos of each bowl.
Each piece is finished with a food safe blend of walnut oil and beeswax, giving it a soft, natural sheen that enhances the wood’s color and grain (those with nut allergies should avoid contact with walnut oil).
Cracks and knots may be present in the wood. They are a natural part of the material and have been carefully sealed and stabilized for everyday use.
To clean, gently hand wash using light soap and water — never place in the dishwasher or sit in water. Regular maintenance with food safe oil will help prevent drying and preserve the finish.
