Here are some simple steps you can take to insure your Carolina Grain Co. item last for generations -

1. Do not wash your piece in the dishwasher.

2. Do not let your item soak in water for extended amounts of time.

3. Do not use your item in the microwave or oven

4. To clean, simply wash the item with a hot, wet cloth or sponge, use soap if needed & allow it to air dry for 24 hours. Clean off any excess soap or pooling water before setting aside to dry.

5. To remove build up or food odor, scrub your item with vinegar and/or lemon juice. It is a good habit to do this every 3 months or as needed. Hyrdogine peroxide can also be used for tougher situations.

6. After some time of use, your item will need a re-treatment of oil due to the wood naturally drying which can cause cracking if left unchecked. Simply re-apply your choice of mineral oil, walnut oil, natural tung oil or danish oil. Lightly wipe the oil on to the item, allow to sit for 24 hours & then clean off any excess oil that still may be on the surface. Depending on the oil that you decide to use, please refer to directions for any special applications. Do not use oils such as vegetable or olive oil as those can go rancid over time.
