A cake pedestal that was turned from locally sourced hard maple wood from North Carolina. This cake pedestal is 6” tall with a 12” diameter top and includes a glass dome for display. A groove has been turned in the top of the pedestal that is made for the dome to sit in. The glass dome is 4.5” tall with a 10” diameter.
This pedestal is a one-of-a-kind creation and the piece shown is the exact one available for purchase.
Please keep in mind that most of my glass domes are found through second-hand stores in order to re-purpose the domes so some wear may be present in the glass.
Each pedestal is finished with a food safe blend of walnut oil and beeswax, giving it a soft, natural sheen that enhances the wood’s color and grain (those with nut allergies should avoid contact with walnut oil).
Cracks and knots may be present in the wood. They are a natural part of the material and have been carefully sealed and stabilized for everyday use.
To clean, gently hand wash using light soap and water — never place in the dishwasher.
Regular maintenance with food safe oil will help prevent cracking and preserve the finish for years to come.
